The OB Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices.  Duties and responsibilities * Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients. * Procedures include: pelvic exams, Pap smears, and IUD insertions. Along with prenatal exams and ultrasounds. * Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures. * Record patients; medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint. * Measure, record, and document vital signs, to monitor the health of both the mother and fetus. * Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider. * This includes collection samples for laboratory tests, such as urine tests or blood draws, and perform routine tests like pregnancy tests or STI screenings. * Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider. Including educating patients on maternal health issues, prenatal care, and general hygiene. * Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. * Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures. * Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers. * Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner. * Attend required meetings, * Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines. * Perform other duties as needed or assigned. Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience * High school graduate or equivalent * Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting program  * At least one (1) year of experience * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification * Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology * Current demonstrated clinical proficiency * Excellent attention to detail * Ability to lift and move patients as necessary * Strong ethical standards and professionalism * Ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately * Possess or can master Microsoft Office Platforms, E-Clinical Works Electronic Medical Record. * Strong written and verbal communications skills. Working conditions * Prolonged periods standing, walking, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
