Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly and motivated Retail Nursery Worker to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves plants, enjoys engaging with customers, has the ability to lift over 35kilos and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. You’ll be the face of our nursery, assisting customers with plant selection, maintaining retail displays, and ensuring the nursery space is welcoming, tidy, and inspiring.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service
• Greet and assist customers with plant selection, gardening advice, and product information.
• Provide tailored recommendations on plant care, soil, pots, and garden solutions.
• Process sales efficiently at the point of sale (POS) system.
• Retail & Stock Management
• Merchandise plants, pots, and garden products to create attractive, shopable displays.
• Assist with stock rotation, unpacking deliveries, and restocking shelves.
• Maintain accurate pricing and product signage.
• MUST be able to lift over 35kg
• Nursery Care
• Water, prune, and maintain plant stock to keep products in optimal condition.
• Monitor plant health and report issues such as pests, disease, or damage.
• Assist with general nursery upkeep including cleaning, sweeping, and maintaining display areas.
• Teamwork & Safety
• Work collaboratively with fellow team members to deliver excellent service.
• Follow safe work practices when handling plants, tools, and equipment.
• Support special events, workshops, or promotions when required.

Skills & Attributes

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• A genuine passion for plants, gardening, and outdoor living.
• Ability to work in a physically active role (lifting, bending, standing).
• Attention to detail in plant care and merchandising.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous retail, hospitality, or nursery/garden experience desirable but not essential.
• Knowledge of horticulture, gardening, or willingness to learn on the job.
• First Aid Certificate (advantage, not required).

Pay: From $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
