The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into healthcare for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science Position Summary Under supervision and direction the Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the proper collection of appropriate specimens for laboratory testing on inpatients and outpatients. The Lab Assistant performs a variety of laboratory tasks, which require learned manual skills rather than a technological training, to assist the trained technologists in various sections within the Department of Laboratory Medicine Scheduled Working Hours days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays 1. Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse. 2. Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates 3. Current certificates or current Community College studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, IV administration, venipuncture, and management, transcribing physician orders 4.
