Description

The Service Group Head of Nursing for Ceredigion provides an excellent opportunity to live and work in West Wales. The post holder will be a key member of the Service Group Senior Management Team, working closely with the General Manager and Clinical Director whilst playing a key role in leading and monitoring care quality standards, ensuring system wide delivery of clinically effective and safe patient centred care. As the lead for nursing, quality and experience the postholder will ensure robust governance arrangements are in place not only to monitor standards of care but also to proactively drive a dynamic approach to meeting population health needs and care delivery of a high quality.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively to influence and drive national / local strategy aligning with professional priorities across the service group, organisation and region. Strong leadership will be required to establish and maintain a balance between sustainable operational safety and high quality nursing and patient experience with effective use of available resources.
Responsible for the day to day operational management and strategic development of all services, balancing the need for proactive service development and strategic leadership against the reactive demand of operational responsibilities and stakeholders.
Lead on the patient quality, safety and experience agenda across the service group, using patient feedback to drive the delivery of safe, high quality and clinically effective patient centred care within the resources available.
Participate in and lead the nursing teams in service wide projects to develop new ways of working in alignment with the integration of services across Health and Social care.
Lead nursing practice and through collaboration with the wider professional nursing leadership team support the development of system wide care services, developing innovative practice in relation to the provision of nursing services to patients.
Provide innovative professional advice and support to a range of clinicians, including GP’s, consultants, managers, social care colleagues and staff in overseeing the provision of high-quality modernised patient focused services.
Direct, lead, line manage and motivate nursing team(s) to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring that activity is fully aligned to the business of the Health Board. This will include coaching and mentoring, resource planning, standard setting, performance management, team and individual development.
Develop workforce plans that accurately project nursing requirements for current and future service delivery and take into account role development in accordance with the modernisation agenda.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.
Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.
Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes
