GENERAL SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, in accordance with the NYS Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and the standards set by Nursing Services and the Nursing Practice Council. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Skills Required: 1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. 2. Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. 3. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal. 4. Previous experience preferred. 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 6. Ability to work with other healthcare team members. 7. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening. As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided. This is a bargaining union position. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital boasts 300 inpatient beds, inpatient acute rooms that are all private, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. An active CNA license and current CPR certification are required, along with a driver's license and reliable vehicle. Six months or more of direct patient care experience is preferred, along with the ability to work independently and handle emotional situations.
