Provides assistance in activities of daily living including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility or ambulation, maintenance of environment and safety. Follows identified standards of care, policies, procedures and protocols in support of Nursing Plan of Care. Observe and reports patient responses to care provided within the specified work period. Ensures safety of care environment for patients, visitors and staff. Attends designated unit meetings, in-services, and staff development programs. The Nursing Assistant uses established channels of communication within the organization to maintain the patient’s privacy and dignity. Report any patient and/or family concerns to RN promptly. Report to the RN, or document patient responses to care given or patients expressed needs. Support the orientation and development of staff, personnel and students. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, healthcare personnel and the organization. Assures care provided is current and consistent with organizations policy for standards of care. Assist nurses or physicians in the operation of medical equipment or provision of patient care. Organize his/her time in support of continuous and efficient provision of care. Maintains accountability for own personal behavior and provides care in adherence to ethical and legal standards as well as CRH Standards of behavior. Prevents transfer of infection and accidental contamination. Perform other duties as assigned to provide effective and appropriate care for patients.
