The role of the preceptor is crucial to the success of the new employee/student. An effective preceptor demonstrates a high level of knowledge of the workplace and department, proficiency in the job, professionalism and serves as an instructor to the new employee. Responsibilities: Teacher/Coach Expands knowledge through the sharing of expertise and promotes learning by connecting theory with practice.
