POSITION SUMMARY

The dietary aide provides person centered care to residents to promote the comfort, safety and quality of life of the residents of Finlandia Nursing Home/Finlandia Village. Under the direction of the Director of Support Services responsible for the delivery and serving of meals to residents and the cleanliness of the servery, dining room and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Successfully completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker program or;
· be currently enrolled in an educational institution with a food handlers’ certificate
· Finnish speaking skill is considered an asset
· An acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check verified within the past six months
· 2-step TB test within the past six months

· Delivers and serves meals and snacks by following procedures and schedules
· Liaises with nursing staff to ensure resident receives correct diet order and food preferences
· Prepares sandwiches, salads and snacks following proper procedures and sanitary guidelines
· Follows safe food handling and storage practices
· Cleans and maintains cleanliness of the servery, dining room, servery equipment and other areas assigned by following procedures and schedules
· Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and committee meetings such as infection control and health and safety
· Participates in staff meetings and educational in-services
· Develops and maintains a thorough working knowledge of the Finlandia Village Health and Safety Manual and associated Provincial Legislation
· Develops and maintains a thorough working knowledge of Finlandia’s Resident Safety Policie
· Performing high touch cleanings in areas of Outbreak or assigned by the Food Services Supervisor
· Any additional duties as assigned
