This role ensures high-quality resident care, staff supervision, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures that support the health, safety, and well-being of residents, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. ---------------------------------------- DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care and adherence to established clinical standards. * Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing and clinical staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Medication Technicians, while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. * Recruit, hire, train, and participate in the scheduling of nursing staff to maintain appropriate staffing levels, ensure adequate coverage, manage overtime effectively, and maintain continuity of care. * Oversee the quality and safety of the community's Medication Management Program, resident care, care coordination, clinical documentation, and infection prevention and control practices. * Ensure appropriateness of resident admissions and readmissions by conducting and/or reviewing pre-admission medical evaluations, collecting personal data, evaluating functional levels, and assessing care needs in collaboration with the Neighborhood Manager. * Verify that all required clinical documentation is completed, filed in the electronic medical record, and available prior to admission. * Complete resident assessments and service plan updates in accordance with established schedules and as needed to ensure effective service delivery. * Address resident and family clinical concerns, provide clear communication, and ensure timely resolution of issues. * Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and resident safety. * Monitor resident accidents and incidents, ensuring physician/provider and family notifications are completed and all required documentation is accurate and timely. * Investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints; implement corrective actions and preventative measures. * Participate in annual business and budget planning for the nursing department. * Monitor and adjust licensed nursing staffing levels, care delivery, labor costs, supply inventories, and quality-of-care goals. * Lead weekly Health Maintenance Meetings, review resident service plans, identify changes in condition, and coordinate updates with physicians, pharmacy, hospice, home health, rehabilitation providers, and other service partners. * Lead the Community Skin Integrity Program, including wound rounds, skin assessments, documentation, family communication, and treatment coordination. * Assist physicians and Directors of Assisted Living and Memory Care with resident assessments, care planning, and coordination of nursing services. * Work closely with pharmacy, hospice, home health agencies, and rehabilitation providers to ensure continuity of care. * Interview, orient, train, supervise, evaluate, and manage nursing and clinical team members. * Ensure nursing team compliance with required training and regulatory requirements. * Represent the community and nursing department in professional and community activities while maintaining positive relationships with referral sources and service providers. * Direct neighborhood team members and residents during emergency preparedness drills and actual emergency events. * Attend workshops, seminars, and healthcare-related programs and maintain professional certifications. * Report any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in accordance with company policy. * Participate in rotating Nursing Leadership On-Call responsibilities as scheduled. * Cover Wellness and Staff Nurse responsibilities as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee. ---------------------------------------- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, long-term care, or a related healthcare setting. * Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of practice. * Delegating Nurse Certificate, where required by state regulations. * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. * Strong knowledge of geriatric care practices, dementia care, chronic disease management, and resident-centered care models. * Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and survey processes applicable to senior living communities. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with residents, families, team members, and healthcare professionals. * Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and clinical documentation. * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of care and compliance. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, team members, residents, families, and the public. * Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call responsibilities. ---------------------------------------- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the community for extended periods while performing job duties. * Ability to lift, move, or assist residents, items, or equipment weighing up to 25–50 pounds occasionally. * Ability to participate in emergency response procedures and resident evacuations as necessary. ---------------------------------------- EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Kensington Senior Living is an Equal Opportunity Employer and maintains personnel policies that prohibit discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on any protected status under applicable federal, state, or local law.
