Job Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and management of Technician operations. This person assists the Pharmacy Manager with the interviewing, hiring, orientation, discipline and ongoing training of all Pharmacy Technicians as well as maintaining records, and license status for quality assurance required by Joint Commission and the Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations to ensure best practices, regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day workflow in the IV room is streamlined. · Oversees and, when necessary, participates in the weekly, monthly, and daily Quality Assurance activities including but not limited to temperature monitoring of product environment and QA testing of compound batches. Ensuring the maintenance of the pharmacy clean room to requirements. Retain clean room sterility testing documentation. · Monitors inventory management functions involving purchasing and receiving drug shipments as well as computer system maintenance. · Assists the Pharmacy Manager in guaranteeing that technicians are providing professional, safe, and cost-effective services ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. · Develops implements and monitors technician activities related to patient safety and ensures proper maintenance of patient information in accordance with state and HIPAA Security Regulations. · Perform pharmacy technician duties as needed or as assigned. · Participates in accreditation visit preparation. Participate in meetings with accreditation personnel. · Gathers, evaluates, and analyzes data to generate workload reports and/or for other projects/statistical purposes. · Provides appropriate guidance and supervision of technician staff in the delivery of patient care.
