Help

• Check that all specimens are properly and completely labeled; assure proper requests (hardcopy or Composite Health Care System (CHCS) computer orders) and correct specimens (i.e., type, amount, etc.) are submitted with all required information.
• Keep logs of test procedures needed to complete administrative workload reports and referral laboratory billing.
• Perform blood collection procedures (phlebotomy) based on type of test that is requested by the health care provider.
• Instruct patients on the proper use of specimen containers and the correct times of specimen collection.
• Prepare specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
