Job Title: Senior C++ Software Engineer – Cross-Platform Desktop Applications
Location: Hybrid (1-2 days), Toronto, Canada

Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to modernize cross-platform desktop applications used across the VFX and design software ecosystem. Join our engineering team working on a project with a Fortune 500 product company.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS

Proficient in C++ development for desktop applications
Strong experience with Python in cross-platform build environments
Hands-on with Windows, Linux, and macOS development
Experience with Conan and CMake for dependency and build management
Familiarity with Git and modern development environments like VSCode

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

Exposure to VFX platforms such as Maya, 3DS Max, and MotionBuilder
Familiarity with GitHub Co-Pilot or AI-assisted coding tools
Experience working with tools like Cursor for collaborative development

Responsibilities

Modernize desktop applications by upgrading dependencies to align with Autodesk and VFX Reference Platform standards
Design, develop, and implement robust software components using C++ and Python
Support and install software applications across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments
Participate in testing processes including code reviews, test analysis, and certification
Collaborate with engineering leads to plan and execute toolchain updates including compilers and libraries
Contribute to the development and optimization of build pipelines using CMake and Conan
