Description JOB SUMMARY: The Massage Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing medically prescribed massage therapy that creates a caring and safe environment, addressing the comfort needs of patients, and positively impacting the patients’ health status, feeling of wellness, and/or quality of life. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Provides massage therapy services to assigned caseload per plan of treatment. · Prior to providing service, ensures physicians order is obtained by RN Case Manager. · Conducts teaching to patient and/or family as determined appropriate. · Communicates with RN Case Manager as needed regarding changes in patient’s status. · Makes referrals to other appropriate health care workers as necessary in consultation with RN Case Manager. · Instructs and coordinates activities with other team members in duties to be done for specific patient situations on an ongoing basis. · Complies with standard precautions and standard infection control protocols and general safety policies and procedures. · Maintains accurate, complete documentation of activities for medical record. · Ensures documentation is on the medical record at least 48–72 hours following the provision of care. · Prepares written summary of patient status for the physician to be sent at least every two weeks. Provides appropriate office staff with notification of visits made daily and turns in written verification of visits on a 48–72-hour basis.
