Position Overview We are seeking a Switchgear Specialist to join our Orange County branch. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven position focused on accurately reading electrical plans, performing take-offs, and preparing detailed switchgear quotations for electrical contractors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and team-oriented, with the humility to learn our processes and the determination to meet every deadline without exception. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications to prepare precise switchgear quotations. Perform detailed take-offs for switchgear and related components, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Quote switchgear jobs for electrical contractors, often under tight timelines—meeting deadlines is a must. Collaborate closely with account managers, project managers, and manufacturers to ensure pricing accuracy and project alignment. Work extensively with manufacturers to confirm part numbers, catalog numbers, and technical specifications. Manage bills of material, submittals, and order entry for awarded projects. Proactively communicate with customers by phone and email to clarify requirements, provide updates, and maintain strong relationships. Utilize internal systems to manage quotes, documentation, and project information. Demonstrate an understanding of the electrical distribution process and how switchgear integrates into larger projects. Support aspects of project management, including coordinating timelines and tracking open quotes or orders. Maintain strong organization and attention to detail in a desk-based role requiring consistent accuracy and follow-through. Qualifications Qualifications Minimum 2–3 years of experience in switchgear quotation, electrical estimating, or a related field within the electrical distribution or contracting industry. Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, switchgear, circuit breakers, and related components. Proven ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications accurately. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively under pressure. Team-oriented mindset with the humility to learn new processes and contribute collaboratively. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with comfort in heavy phone and email correspondence.
