POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Landscape Architect will lead the planning, design, and supervision of playgrounds and recreational outdoor spaces, ensuring functionality, safety, sustainability, and compliance with international playground equipment standards. This role requires expertise in landscape development focus on playground design and safety with the ability to coordinate between clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in landscape architecture, preferably with at least 2 years focused on playground or recreational facility design.
• Strong knowledge of playground safety standards (ASTM F1487, EN 1176, etc.) and accessibility requirements.
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Suite, Lumion, etc.).
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance creativity with technical accuracy and safety compliance.

1. **Design & Planning
   o Able to provide conceptual and detailed design of playgrounds, outdoor recreational spaces, and landscaping around play areas.
   o Lead the team in selection of appropriate playground equipment, surfacing, and materials in line with safety, accessibility (ADA), and sustainability standards.
   o Lead the team inf preparation site plans and layout, technical detail coordination, construction drawings, and 3D visualizations.
2. **Technical Expertise
   o Ensure all playground equipment designs comply with international standards (e.g., ASTM, EN, ISO, BS) and local authority guidelines.
   o Conduct safety risk assessments, fall zone analyses, and accessibility audits.
   o Advise on play and equipment selection, durability, and maintenance requirements.
   o Provide technical information required by the sales team for them to provide the appropriate information on commercial offer.
3. **Project Management
   o Lead the junior designer/s in playground and landscape technical submissions to meet required deadlines from inception to closing document.
   o Meet contractors, suppliers, and installation teams to ensure compliance with specifications and design intent.
   o Conduct site inspections and site visit to understand the existing site condition prior to start the site work/s.
4. **Client & Stakeholder Coordination
   o Liaise with clients, consultants, municipal authorities, and suppliers to align project objectives.
   o Present design proposals, feasibility studies, and cost estimates to stakeholders.
   o Provide professional advice on playground layouts, themes, and functional requirements.
5. Sustainability & Innovation
   o Integrate eco-friendly design strategies, such as natural play elements, recycled materials, and low-maintenance landscaping.
   o Research and introduce innovative playground equipment and design trends.
   o Promote environmental stewardship in outdoor recreational design.
6. Leadership & Mentorship
   o Guide junior landscape architects, designers, and technicians in project execution.
   o Review and approve design work, technical drawings, and reports prepared by the team.
   o Provide training on playground safety, equipment standards, and sustainable landscape practices.
   o Review procurement order if aligned to the client approvals.
