As a member of the Recovery Alberta: Mental Health and Addiction community clinic, the primary responsibility of this Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker position is to support the program coordinator and members in the operations of the Clubhouse program. Clubhouse is a rehabilitative, member driven community where we foster growth, hope and recovery for adults with a mental illness. The program is based on the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) clubhouse model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and support recovery from a mental illness by helping people re-establish normal roles in the community and their reintegration into community life. Clubhouse addresses isolation and quality of life issues, links program members to local community programs and activities, and works with the local community to improve their understanding of mental illness. Essential to the effectiveness of the program is the involvement of consumers (members) in all aspects of service planning, operation, evaluation and decision making. The incumbent reports to a community board as well as a supervisor within Addiction & Mental Health Services. Duties include travel within the region. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Description:
As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.
