Description

CLIENT & THE POSITION:

Our client is an Engineering Company that produce special purpose machinery for surface mining, underground coal and hard rock mining industries. With a large portfolio of more than 12 products, working across 10 + branches in Australia, they are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer for their conveyor division. This is a residential based role, one that would suit a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with 2 years’ experience in a similar industry.
Within this position you will create mutually beneficial relationships with customers on local mine sites. You will manage your own projects from start to finish, delivering engineered solutions with maximum productivity for customers, while reducing operational coal costs for them. It is essential that you have a passion for 3D design, Project Management and enjoy Customer Interaction. Work closely with production and manufacturing teams in Mackay, daily interaction with the workshop (brownfield optimisation of products) all while overseeing drafts, produced by drafts persons. Ensure all designs are produced in accordance with Australian mining quality and OH&S standards.
Responsibilities

DAILY DUTIES:

  • Attend site visits with Senior Management, 1 trip every week to 2 weeks
  • Create mutually beneficial relationships with customers and clients allocated to you
  • Offer excellent customer service, build excellent rapport, really go the extra mile to extend the relationship between the company and the mine site
  • Analyse conveyors on site, assessing pulley mechanisms, pneumatic and hydraulic issues, affecting the productivity of the conveyors
  • Help improve the efficiency of the conveyors on site
  • Act and offer support daily, weekly, help grow their products on your allocated mine sites and other sites
  • Produce AutoCAD/Inventor proposals, mechanical/structural type work for conveyor projects
  • Develop concept designs and prepare reports – 3D Inventor Software
  • Participate in Design, Manufacturing and Assembly review meetings
  • Assist with the engineering aspects associated with the preparation of technical specifications, price inquiries, and tender documents
  • Support sales and operations teams
  • Manage BOM’s
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant global standards

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • You will be skilled in the disciplines of Bulk design, analysis, manufacturing, and mechanical systems
  • You will have passion for 3D design
  • 2+ years’ experience within Heavy Industry
  • Experience with Inventor
