Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents. Qualifications: Alberta HCA/Recreation Aide certificate required One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is preferred Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook Training or experience in social services, recreation or related discipline preferred This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy PLEASE NOTE: AUPE Recreation Assistant Wage Scale $24.00 - $28.16 All employees new to Covenant Care must provide a criminal record check not older than 6 months ahead of your commencement date.
