POSITION SUMMARY

Interior Health’s Plant Services is hiring an Electronic Instrument Control (EIC) Technician II for a regional wide role overseeing the Interior Health Thompson Cariboo Shusway worksites. Travel is required in this role within the surrounding areas. Access to personal vehicle may be required. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage for basic Medical Services, Dental Services, and Extended Health. Pension plan is offered as well as a relocation allowance package.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Overlander Extended Care Facilty with a weekly schedule Monday to Friday consisting of weekends and statutory holidays off. Shifts are 8 am to 4 pm.
The EIC Technician II designs and builds electronic circuits, designs and implements solutions to issues and problems and performs fault analyses. Performs skilled work in the installation, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance, service and repair of electronic equipment and systems. Interprets sketches and prepares new sketches, diagrams, or schematic drawings. Understands, operates and modifies computer software for electronic equipment/systems, and building automation systems (BAS). All work performed on electronic equipment and systems is done in accordance with, where applicable, bylaws, regulations, codes and standards.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Designs and builds electronic circuits; generates appropriate drawings and documentation. Designs and implements solutions to issues and problems by reviewing work requests and consulting with user departments.
• Performs fault analyses by identifying problems with a circuit board, component or programming configuration level. Tests system functionality using computer terminals. Demonstrates the use of systems and provides technical support to staff.
• Liaises with manufacturers and suppliers to determine the availability and cost of systems/parts. Where required, obtains guidance on their installation and use.
• Installs, maintains, repairs and commissions electronic equipment and systems such as access controls, mobile radios, nurse call, alarms, paging/intercom, patient wandering, direct digital controls, BAS, Fire Alarm, CCTV and gas-monitoring systems. Investigates and resolves user complaints. Performs diagnostic correction and repair.
• Commissions new/modified systems into operation by performing trials and monitoring the system to ensure it is functioning according to specifications. Makes necessary repairs or adjustments. Follows up with installation contractors as required.
• Tests and inspects electronic and security devices such as motion detectors, door position switches, duress buttons and control panels, in accordance with applicable bylaws, regulations, codes and standards.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all electronic equipment and systems by cleaning, testing, calibrating and replacing parts as required. Maintains appropriate/required documentation.
• Liaises with outside contractors to ensure adherence to contract specifications and facility requirements.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of a recognized diploma program in Electronic Technology.
• Five (5) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Industry and vendor equipment certifications as required.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License required.
