JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Qualified Healthcare Assistant for Newsome Surgery. You will ideally be an experienced HCA with Primary Care Experience, however a HCA with Community or Secondary Care Experience would be considered with the right motivation, drive and willingness to learn and develop.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to monitor care under direct or indirect supervision, using a wide range of skills you have including (but not limited to);
- Assisting and performing routine HCA tasks related to patient care.
- Support patients to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and well-being by using behaviour change interventions.
- To be competent in venepuncture, ECGs and other diagnostic tests. Training will be offered if required.
- To be competent in wound care management. Training will be offered if required.
- To support chronic disease management.
- To provide general health promotion and NHS Health checks.
- Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
- To be able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (BLS) and the correct use of Automated Defibrillator following training, according to the current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines.
- To participate in developments within the practice / network and support QOF / DES requirements.
· Provide a safe, high quality and accessible treatment room service to patients.
You will act within your professional boundaries, providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP.
Supervision and mentoring will be provided by the appropriate senior medical staff - the type of support will depend on the post holder’s skills and knowledge and determined by our clinical governance arrangements.
