Description GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: We are seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our Gastroenterology consult service. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity role focused on managing a broad spectrum of GI conditions while working closely with a collaborative team of gastroenterologists. This position offers a strong balance of clinical autonomy, procedural coordination, and productivity-based performance, making it ideal for candidates who thrive in both a hospital and outpatient clinic environment. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Gastroenterology Physicians SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides high quality clinical care to patients in hospital and/or office setting according to protocol. Perform GI consults and daily follow-ups Coordinate EGD, colonoscopy, and advanced endoscopy cases Manage: Pre-procedure risk assessment Anticoagulation and bowel prep Post-procedure care Completes all Medical Record documentation in a timely and complete manner. Demonstrates proficiency in documentation and billing processes. Understands and complies with federal and state coding policies. Pursues practice development through public relations and marketing to pursue practice growth. Actively participates in AHNMG activities as requested. Actively participates in the performance improvement processes to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements. Pursues personal and professional development to improve skills. Takes initiative, is flexible to change, follows through on commitments, takes personal responsibility and assumes ownership for successfully completing job responsibilities, Demonstrates awareness, practices and promotes patient safety Approaches problems using a methodical approach and analysis information to make well thought out decisions. The jobholder must demonstrate competencies applicable to job position. Requirements EDUCATION: MSN required. Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program and current NC License. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus two years of nurse practitioner experience preferred. Inpatient or acute care experience strongly preferred. REQUIREMENTS: Maintains valid NP and RN license for state of North Carolina. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Inpatient hospital setting and outpatient clinic setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital environment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
