Role Introduction
Are you passionate about working with children and their families on the edge of care and placement breakdowns? Would you be thrilled to support the design and implement a service that transform the way the needs of children who are presenting with distress and behaviours that challenge are met? Are you skilled with children who have experience trauma and/or present with Neuro Diversity Learning disability needs? Do you have the skills required to engage diverse stakeholders? We are determined to work differently to meet the needs of our children and young people who are on the edge of care or placement breakdown. Offering a joined up, seamless approach which would mean that their needs are understood by professionals and families caring for these children and young people. Our aim is that a multi-agency team would provide a collective resource of knowledge and expertise that would facilitate a transformation in the way agencies are working with this group of children and their families/carers. This will include a pathway of care working in partnership with existing services to review current practice and facilitate the development of new models of care that meets each individual child or young persons needs.
Employed by LCH your role will be embed with the Local authority linking with teams supporting these children and young people.
The postholder will provide clinical leadership alongside a Clinical team manager. Be a resource to others, provide specialist mental health and complex trauma expertise and experience of working with children with neuro diversity and Learning disabilities.
The focus is to develop a new service and way of working, key responsibilities will include: establishing working relationships with other agencies; developing co-production with young people and their support; reviewing current working practices, exploring evidence based approaches and shape new practices in caring for these children and young people; sharing psychological principles and ideas with stakeholders; Adapting communication and length of service involvement to presenting needs and resources available within the care system. Direct work with children and young people is anticipated to be only a small part of this role but will involve some complex assessment and intervention planning. You will be expected to clinically support the team in their clinical work and ways of working. You will be a passionate communicator and excellent trainer. You will have substantial post-qualification experience as a clinical psychologist working in services for children and young people, including young people who have experienced trauma, presentations of ND and/ or LD. You will have additional training in at least one of the following AMBIT, DDP, PBS trauma.
