JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee the Academy’s ICT infrastructure and support team, ensuring high-quality service. Collaborate with the IT Services Manager on stock, ordering, and project delivery. Liaise with SLT and keep the Infrastructure Manager informed. Support primary academies and share expertise across the Trust as needed.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support and implement the Trust’s IT Strategy in collaboration with the IT Services Manager and Academy SLT, adapting it to meet local needs.
· Maintain regular communication with SLT, Subject Leaders, and users to support network activities.
· Manage daily tasks of the IT Technician/Apprentice, offering support and feedback to the Infrastructure Manager.
· Provide IT support to Primary Academies when requested.
· Attend IT team meetings and provide reports as required.
· Ensure optimal performance of physical and virtual servers and network equipment (routers, switches, UPS, etc.).
· Maintain and monitor security systems (firewalls, antivirus, web filtering).
· Oversee software distribution and licensing compliance.
· Proactively monitor IT infrastructure, flagging issues to prevent downtime.
· Ensure robust backup and recovery procedures are in place and understood.
· Assist with stock management and procurement by advising the IT Services Manager on equipment and licensing needs.
· Contribute to IT budget planning with awareness of the Academy’s financial position.
· Ensure correct disposal of end-of-life IT equipment and maintain records.
· Coordinate with IT Services Manager on updates to minimise user disruption and communicate network downtime.
· Support the local Data Manager with MIS operations and updates.
· Maintain inventory of all IT assets.
· Manage user accounts (AD, Email, SIMS, Print).
· Operate and prioritise the IT helpdesk.
· Maintain and troubleshoot the phone system.
· Demonstrate working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and iOS systems.
· Repair, upgrade, and configure IT hardware/software.
· Support and train staff and students in IT use.
· Manage loan equipment bookings and ensure readiness.
· Maintain and replace printer consumables; track inventory and arrange repairs.
· Clean and maintain projectors, including filter/bulb replacements.
· Organise and manage the IT tech room and equipment spares.
· Set up AV/IT equipment for events and assemblies.
· Diagnose LAN and cabling faults and maintain an overview of systems.
· Work flexibly, including outside normal hours when required
