Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, this role provides dedicated financial support in the
areas of Hospital, Long-term Care and Separately funded programs, budgeting, budget to actual
variance analysis, internal and external reporting, payroll analytics and maintaining robust
statistical reporting systems. There will be a strong focus on providing financial reporting
assistance for internal and external reporting, including recognition of revenue from global and
activity-based funding. The role will support the Director, Financial Services in streamlining
monthly reporting processes and understanding the data capabilities of the payroll system to
support financial review and analysis. The position will help to identify areas for improvement.
The role will work closely with the other Financial Services staff to ensure accurate and timely
report generation for internal reporting to management and the Board of Directors, as well as for
scheduled and ad hoc reports required by the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health and the Ministry
of Long-Term Care.
The hospital financial reporting system is Meditech for the majority of the financial systems, with
Quadrant (QHR) payroll system and the supply chain reporting through the regional SAP system.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong financial knowledge and analytical
skills to help shape healthcare delivery in this region.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience
Accounting designation (CPA), preferred
Experience:
Ideally the candidate will have had a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an
accounting or analyst position in a health care environment or not-for-profit setting
Knowledge of payroll processes is considered an asset.
Required Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to
support monthly financial reporting and year-end audited financial statements and other
mandatory financial reporting
Assistance with the development of departmental annual budgets and annual capital
budgets and processes, including for the LTC beds.
Knowledge of Management information System (MIS) Guidelines and Ontario
Healthcare Reporting System considered an asset
Knowledge of hospital reporting, statistical data and key performance indicators
considered an asset
Knowledge of Long-term Care Reporting considered an asset
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software, e.g. Word,
Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Previous experience using Meditech considered an asset
Ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload
and challenging deadlines.
