JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented and versatile Writer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to create engaging content across various platforms, with a focus on technical writing, instructional materials, and creative projects. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments. A background in IT or education is a plus, as the Writer will often work on projects that involve technical support and training materials.

SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of HTML, Java programming language, Linux operating systems, macOS environments, and Windows platforms.
  • Experience with software troubleshooting and customer service in an IT context.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong analysis skills to assess content effectiveness and user engagement.
  • Experience with classroom teaching or training & development is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of computer management practices and networking principles is beneficial. Work Location: Hybrid remote in Fairfax, VA 2203
Responsibilities
  • Develop clear and concise written content for manuals, guides, and online resources.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy.
  • Create instructional materials for training sessions and e-learning modules using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Edit and proofread content for clarity, grammar, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Utilize various software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Google Workspace for document creation and management.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation related to IT systems including EMR systems, AWS applications, and computer networking.
  • Provide support in software troubleshooting and help desk functions as needed.
  • Engage in classroom experience by developing training programs that enhance employee skills.
  • Conduct technology training sessions; be able to resolve level-one computer glitches that occur in a lab environment security communication plans as required and directed by designated County staff.
