Maintains an awareness of the patient’s verbal and non-verbal communication when the Ophthalmologist is providing instructions as it may necessitate the scribe repeating information, and/or providing patient education materials for the patient to review at home. Ensures the patient understands all instructions. Take and document patients' medical histories. Operates ophthalmic equipment, such as Auto Refractor, Retinoscopes, Phoropters, Slit Lamp, Pentacam/Topography, Wavescan, IOL master/instar, Projectors, Zeiss OCT, and Heidelberg OCT. Pupil evaluation, Pachymetry, Humphrey Visual Field Testing, Tonometry, Color Vision Extraocular Muscle Function Testing & Hirschberg Testing. Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot test, Stereopsis testing. Triages phone calls from patients and outside contacts following the standard of care for Ophthalmology and office policies. Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment. Assist patients in inserting or removing contact lenses. Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Basic knowledge of medical coding terminology and conventions. Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, G-suite environments.
