Come join our team to be a part of this amazing opportunity!   Job Title: Mine Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer or designate, the Mine Engineer-in-Training (Mine EIT) is a foundational role for both operational execution and short-term planning. This position plays a key role in supporting mine design, planning, and execution during one of the most exciting construction and ramp-up phases in Canadian mining. The Mine EIT will collaborate closely with Mine Engineers, Surveyors, and Geologists to contribute to the safe, efficient, and accurate delivery of technical work in support of open-pit development. This is a hands-on, site-based role that offers exceptional exposure to the full mine engineering lifecycle at a world-class project.   Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Mine Design, Planning & Scheduling * Assist in the preparation and management of mine designs, plans, and technical drawings in support of open-pit operations and site development. * Develop and maintain mine plans, pit designs, and associated spatial data using Deswik software suite and other technical tools. * Assist with short- and medium-term production planning, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking against project milestones. Drill & Blast Engineering * Contribute to drill and blast engineering activities, including pattern design, explosive selection, blast movement analysis, and post-blast review. * Interface with Internal blast crew and develop QAQC systems for fragmentation optimization and dilution reduction Technical Documentation & Drawings * Support the development and issuance of Issued for Construction (IFC) and Issued for Review (IFR) design packages, including adherence to applicable guiding documents and quality control procedures. * Prepare accurate and clearly formatted maps and technical drawings for operational, planning, and reporting purposes. * Build and maintain process maps to document and communicate technical workflows across the Technical Services team and broader project organization. Coordination & Communication * Liaise with field technicians, assayers, surveyors, and operational teams to ensure technical deliverables reflect current site conditions. Monitoring, Reporting & Records * Support the monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to mine design compliance, development progress, and drill and blast performance. * Maintain organized and current technical records in accordance with the department’s design data management and control process. Health, Safety & General Support * Participate actively in safety meetings, pre-task planning, and hazard identification processes consistent with Skeena’s health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards. * Perform other duties as required in support of the Technical Services team and the broader project execution team. * All other duties as required.   The Ideal Candidate Education / Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or Geological/Civil Engineering with mining focus) * Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia Experience / Skills * A minimum of 1–4 years of experience in mining or heavy civil construction, either post-graduation or during co-op or internship terms * Working knowledge of mine design principles, open-pit mining methods, and standard engineering practices * Experience working at a mine during the construction or ramp-up phase, with direct exposure to the challenges and pace of a project in transition to production is an asset * Proficiency with Deswik software (Deswik.CAD, Deswik.FM, or related modules) for mine design and data management is an asset * Interest in or experience with fleet dispatch/HPGPS systems is an asset * Drill and blast engineering experience, including design, execution support, and performance analysis * Strong analytical skills for production tracking, data analysis, and reconciliation * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a willingness to learn database/reporting tools. * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Eagerness to learn multiple aspects of mining * Safety-focused mindset with commitment to working within regulatory and company standards and contributing towards positive safety culture * Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities   Work Location & Conditions This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.      The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.       There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.         All Applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada. Priority hiring consideration will be given to Indigenous Nations members who reside within the territories our projects are located.   Compensation The expected salary range for this position is CA$80,000 - CA$100,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia.
