Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and patient-focused Optician/Dispenser to join our Jasper Avenue team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care and service by assisting patients with eyewear selection, performing precise measurements, and ensuring the proper fit and comfort of frames and lenses. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a busy clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients with frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle, and personal preferences.
Take accurate measurements (PD, segment height, etc.) and ensure proper frame adjustments and fittings.
Provide education on lens options, coatings, warranties, and care.
Process orders accurately through our EMR system (Optosys).
Perform eyewear repairs and adjustments as needed.
Manage dispensary inventory, including frame displays, stock levels, and supplier returns/credits.
Support patients with insurance billing and pre-approvals.
Collaborate with doctors, fellow dispensers, and lab staff to ensure smooth workflow.
Maintain a professional, welcoming, and patient-centered environment.
Qualifications:
Optician diploma or optical dispensing experience preferred (NAIT Optical Sciences students and apprentices encouraged to apply).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Customer service or retail experience an asset.
Familiarity with Optosys (or similar EMR systems) an asset.
