POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Systems Engineer within the VODA IT Department, you will be responsible for defining technical product, architectural recommendations and overseeing infrastructure across all VODA divisions. You will build and maintain VODA’s infrastructure, ensuring it supports long-term business objectives and security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in network administration and engineering with a strong focus on firewall management, VPNs, VLANs, and routing protocols.
• NGINX Expertise: Proven experience managing and configuring NGINX reverse proxy servers.
• Network Security: Deep knowledge of network security principles, including firewall rule optimization and access control management.
• Network Security and Connectivity: Deep experience managing Meraki & PFSense firewalls, Aruba wireless and Ubiquity
• Cloud Networking: Hands-on experience with AWS networking services, Azure cloud integration, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Server Administration (Preferred): Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization with Hyper-V, and AWS services.
• Automation: Proficient in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for network automation.
• Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage independent projects and team-based initiatives.

• Network Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain robust network infrastructure across multiple locations, including configuration and optimization of Meraki and PFSense firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, Layer 2/3 switches, NAT policies, and access controls.
• NGINX Reverse Proxy: Implement and manage NGINX reverse proxy servers to enhance application performance, load balancing, and secure web services.
• Network Security: Develop and enforce network security measures, monitor firewall rules, and implement high-availability configurations to safeguard organizational data.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, and improve network performance using tools for real-time monitoring and capacity planning, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Cloud Integration: Manage and secure hybrid cloud network environments integrating AWS and Azure cloud services.
• Server and Virtualization Support (Nice to Have): Provide support for server infrastructure, including Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/FreeBSD), Hyper-V, and AWS environments.
• Backup and Disaster Recovery Support: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Veeam backup solutions and AWS Backup strategies.
• Automation and Scripting: Utilize scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate network management tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Collaboration and User Support: Work closely with other IT team members and departments to resolve network-related issues and provide high-level technical support.
