TEMPORARY CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER

Location: North Trenton Public School, Trent River Public School, VP Carswell Elementary School, other locations as required.
Salary: $62,222 - $66,037
Duration: September 2, 2025 to December 19, 2025 (anticipated)
Hours: 23/week (with possible increase)

Job Overview: Reporting directly to the School Principal, the Child and Youth Worker (CYW) performs duties such as creating, implementing and monitoring service plans in collaboration with the in-school team to support the attendance, social-emotional or behavioural needs of students.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum post-secondary completion in Child and Youth Care, such as an Advanced Diploma, or other related post-secondary education programs.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience working with children and youth in an academic or related setting.
  • Demonstrated experience providing responsive co-regulation and socio-emotional support to children and youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to build supportive and productive relationships with children and youth and collaborate with schools, support services, collaborative care teams, and other providers.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with varied populations.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background check

Responsibilities
  • Investigate attendance concerns and provide responsive co-regulation and social-emotional learning support to students in classrooms or small groups. CYWs focus on addressing students’ social, emotional, and behavioural needs, fostering emotional regulation, and promoting positive social interactions through targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with school staff to deliver tiers 1 and 2 interventions within schools, as well as crisis support or ASIST interventions when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the in-school team to design, implement, and monitor students on established service plans including referrals with consent to community agencies or medical clinics.
  • Plan and implement evidence-based or evidence-informed classroom and school wide programs, as well as utilize resources from School Mental Health Ontario to support the social-emotional needs and overall well-being of students.

Qualifications:
