About the Role Director, Practice Groups SMEs The Director, Practice Groups SMEs is a senior operating, technical, and commercial leader responsible for supporting and enabling Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple environmental and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) practice groups within a national consulting platform. This role focuses on aligning technical excellence, operational consistency, and growth execution across Practice Groups and offices. The Director partners closely with the COO, Local Directors, Business Development, and Practice Group SMEs to strengthen service delivery, expand EHS offerings, and support entry into new U.S. end markets. The ideal candidate brings deep technical credibility, strong cross-functional leadership, and the ability to influence outcomes in a matrixed organization without direct line authority. Key Responsibilities 1. Practice Groups SME Leadership & Performance Support Support Practice Group SME performance across revenue contribution, utilization, backlog, margin awareness, and technical execution. Partner with SMEs and Local Directors to support development and execution of annual operating and growth plans for each Practice Group. Facilitate regular Practice Group performance reviews, helping SMEs identify risks, opportunities, and improvement actions. Support alignment of Practice Group priorities with enterprise objectives and regional execution plans. Partner with Finance and Operations to improve visibility into Practice Group–level performance and project economics. 2. Growth Strategy & Market Expansion Enablement Support Practice Group SMEs in developing and executing service-line growth strategies, including expansion of EHS offerings and entry into new end markets.
