The Sydney School of Health Sciences is seeking a Lecturer (Teaching & Research) who is passionate about improving health outcomes and health equity in the local, national and global communities through speech pathology practice. A Lecturer (Level B) is expected to make a significant contribution to the teaching and learning and engage in educational leadership within their School/ Faculty. This is a fixed term 40% (teaching), 40% (research), and 20% (service) position, and offers an opportunity to develop and contribute to research and teaching in Speech Pathology as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Based at the Susan Wakil Health Building at the Camperdown campus, the Discipline of Speech Pathology offers both undergraduate and postgraduate Speech Pathology programs, and the established University of Sydney SPEECH clinic, which provides Speech Pathology Evidence-based Education in Communication, swallowing and Hearing (SPEECH) services to the local community. Your key responsibilities will be to: Conduct original research independently or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding undertake independent teaching and apply research or scholarly activity to enhance educational practices and outcomes engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university’s expectations and standards for education develop innovative teaching approaches and evaluate teaching and learning effectiveness for continuous improvement coordinate activities of academic staff and provide training and mentorship to less experienced lecturers contribute to outstanding teaching and learning outcomes. About you A PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline of speech pathology proven background in linguistics and speech science with specialist expertise in perceptual, acoustic, and articulatory phonetics as well as a strong foundation in morphology and syntax eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia or equivalent professional association developed research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in speech pathology and/or related fields of practice demonstrated understanding of the Speech Pathology Scope of Practice in Australia (2022), Professional Standards for Speech Pathologists in Australia (2020), Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics (2020) and guidelines for Evidence-Based Practice for speech pathology in Australia (2021) proven experience in teaching and learning, including demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives a developing network of relationships with academic, consumer/advocacy, industry and/or professional organisations, partners and stakeholders experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector.
