Status: Full-time Location: Westbrook Hours: 37.5 hours/week, 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:45 AM and 4:15 PM This position is responsible for the performance of x-ray examinations in accordance to the standards, practices and code of ethics of CAMRT, ACMDTT and Mayfair. Medical Radiation Technologists performing x-ray procedures are in a position that requires a highly responsible and professional attitude. They are exposed to many serious and very personal issues. They must ensure the highest quality care possible in both a personal and professional manner. They are expected to work in cooperation with reception, technical assistants, radiologists and clinic managers as part of a team whose primary focus is to provide exemplary customer service to the patient. As an experienced Mammography technologist, we know you have a commitment to outstanding care for your patients, their loved ones and their caregivers. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides exemplary customer service in the care of the patient: Works in cooperation with reception, radiologists and clinic managers as part of a team whose primary focus is to provide exemplary customer service to the patient. Ensures that there are no errors in patient identification. Explains the procedure to the patient in all cases. Assists patients to facilitate transport and positions. Ensures that all patient needs are fulfilled as they arise. Ensures that protective aprons and shields are used as required. Maintains patient confidentiality as per HIA, HIPA, and this practice’s privacy policies. Performs radiographic procedures: Performs mammography procedures in a professional manner. Ensures that a high quality of patient care and imaging standards is met. Fosters a positive workplace and is proactive in carrying out duties and assessing current and future work load and procedures that are vital to the success of this role. Fulfills requisitions for radiological services to patients without delay. Ensures correct exam is entered in RIS system and/or modify x-ray code if necessary Maintains effective and appropriate safety procedures. Ensures that materials, procedure area and patient are prepared for the procedure in all cases. Ensures that only the correct area is exposed to radiation without error in all cases. Ensures that the x-ray beam is confined correctly to protect the patient and attending staff from unnecessary exposure to radiation. Participates in the Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs. Performs assigned quality control checks, completes documentation of required information and seeks assistance in unfamiliar situations. Performs examinations in the allocated time as outlined by Mayfair. Anticipates the requirements of the radiologist while assisting. Ensures that images are processed according to set procedures. Ensures the procedures are checked according to individual radiologist’s preference. Prepares images and consultation forms for reporting according to department procedures as required. Performs fluoroscopic procedures, if applicable to your office. Performs bone densitometry, if applicable to your office. Observes Mayfair’s policy and procedures. Performs some non-technical duties: Assists in orientating new staff to department routines and standards. Participate in educational programs, seminars, in-services and workshops deemed appropriate. Documents all instances of injury or incident utilizing appropriate report forms. Contributes to the team in a positive manner and treats others with loyalty, respect and dignity. Maintains an ongoing knowledge of reception and/or technical assistant duties and cooperates in the performance of these duties and fills in whenever possible during an absence. Performs other non-technical duties as assigned by the supervisor.
