Description

We are currently looking for two (02) Courier Drivers to join us in Otago Region. You must be committed and reliable and have a Clean and current Driver’s license.

It’s a Permanent Full-Time position with a minimum of guaranteed 30 hours of work per week. Days Required: Monday to Saturday (flexible hours). Weekends and public holidays availability. Hourly rate: Between $30.00- $32.00 per hour based on skills and experience. Location of Work would be Within Otago Region.

  • Delivering mail, parcels, documents and other items to customers’ premises and mailboxes
  • Sorting and sequencing items for delivery
  • Receiving orders for deliveries from customers
  • Check the condition of the load and that it is secure
  • Ensuring goods are secured correctly and removed safely
  • Inspecting goods for damage and complete incident reports
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
  • Keeping records of items received and delivered
  • Maintaining logs and other delivery records
  • Loading and unloading mail conveyances and internal mail handling equipment
  • Assisting with receipting inward mail, checking wrongly addressed, missorted, undelivered and redirected mail, and processing freepost and underpaid mail
  • Pre-checks of vehicle before each trip – including oil, water, fuel, air pressure levels are in line with road safety and vehicle safety standards
  • Ensure vehicle is kept clean and tidy and carry out minor maintenance
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations - immediately report the instance to the Manager.
  • Always follow health and Safety operation during driving & Complying with all traffic laws at all times

To be successful in your application, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Current Class 1 Driver’s license OR equivalent overseas Driver license.
  • 6-12 months of relevant experience
  • Pass the drug and alcohol tests
  • No criminal records
  • Clean driving record (No previous Driving incidents) and commitment to safety
  • Flexible Work Availability as there will be early morning start, and you may be required to work during weekends and public holidays
  • Being physically fit (there may be some heavy lifting)
  • Time management skills and ability to work unsupervised
  • Work in conditions that may be stressful, including poor weather and Heavy Traffic
  • Mechanically minded would be an advantage
  • Have a positive, enthusiastic attitude with a strong results-focused work ethic
  • Strong Health & Safety focus & adherence to all H&S procedures
  • Willingness to follow standard operating procedures
  • Committed and reliable
