We are looking for a Tax Manager to join our Closely Held Business Practice. This candidate will oversee the tax preparation and technical review process for primarily complex closely held businesses ensuring compliance with state and federal tax regulations. The customers served by this team are predominantly passthrough entities and their individual business owners. Tasks will include leading the tax team, advising, researching and identifying tax issues, and recommending solutions to complex customer issues. In addition, the Tax Manager will delegate and manage tax assignments and perform administrative duties. The Tax Manager is responsible for training, supporting, supervising, motivating, and reviewing the work of the tax team. #LI-JR1 #LI-HYBR WHAT YOU’LL DO Possess thorough knowledge of all facets of the customer’s business to ensure customer understanding of engagement economics and to provide frequent updates Actively communicate the progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to customers Continuously improve specialty area knowledge and educate the team on new audit practices and processes Manage billable hour budgets and follow up when the team is over/under to determine the cause Perform technical tax review of assigned tax returns simultaneously and of varying complexity Research and identify complex tax issues and recommend creative solutions with the input of key stakeholders Build challenging developmental plans for all team members and evaluate the results Delegate and manage tax and research assignments to achieve accurate and efficient product Manage billable hour budgets and follow up when the team is over/under to determine the cause Assume responsibility for and provide direction and coaching to the tax team Generate new business for the firm through community involvement, networking, and professional events/committees Develop and sustain excellent customer relationships, owning the relationship end-to-end Celebrate individual and team accomplishments and be part of recruiting new and experienced staff Provide effective performance feedback and on-the-job training Contribute to performance management to help assess readiness for promotion of staff and senior levels WHAT YOU’LL NEED Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master’s degree in Tax preferred 5+ years of recent accounting firm experience, including managing multiple tax accounting projects and customer engagements, directing, scheduling staff, and managing workflow.
