ROLE DEFINITION: We are seeking a skilled Facilities Electrical Engineer to join our R&D team focused on designing and building advanced test cells for large power systems. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for electrical system design, component selection, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance testing environments. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Design test cell electrical systems ranging from 10 kW to 4 MW. Perform analysis to determine motor and drive sizing. Perform analysis to calculate arc flash incident energy. Work with suppliers to procure electrical components. Develop preventive maintenance schedules for electrical components. Work with a diverse team of mechanical designers, PLC programmers, project coordinators, and facility engineers to plan and build tests in a research and development environment. WHAT YOU WILL HAVE: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. Proven experience in high-power electrical system design and analysis. Strong understanding of motor control, drive systems, and industrial electrical components. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Plant Facilities Management (working knowledge): Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure. Performs the installation and maintenance of such items as the plant’s electric, air conditioning, telephone and cabling infrastructure. Interprets facilities-related reports and explains record-keeping requirements. Works with addressing basic physical requirements of a manufacturing plant. Follows access and security control procedures and equipment. Assesses potential security or safety risks and notifies appropriate team members.
