The role of the post holder is to undertake the duties of a Fire Safety Manager (FSM) and act as the lead competent person in fire relation issues in accordance with the NHS HTM 05-01 standards and The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. To ensure the Trust meets it’s Statutory and Common Law (Patient Care) obligations, the post holder must provide specialist fire safety advice, devise and ensure the delivery of statutory safety training for Fire Safety. The FSM will lead on all matters relating to fire safety, the post holder will be responsible for establishing and leading a “fire safety management system” across the organisation and building key working relationships internally and externally.

Be responsible ensuring accurate fire risk assessments are kept up to date, deficiencies are acted upon and documented.
Implement projects and manage (fire related) as funding is allocated from the Trusts annual capital programme.
Produce comprehensive reports for communicating to all levels within the Trust including Executive Committees and Trust Board.
Provide professional safety leadership and Management to ensure that the Trust complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and HTM 05-01 as far as reasonable practicable.

Lead on how the organisation meets its statutory obligations in respect of fire safety and advising the relevant Committees of the effects of new or amended legislation and on the effectiveness of compliance.
Identify and lead initiatives in support of a comprehensive Fire Strategy including supporting policy, protocols, and procedures for all Trust sites.
Be responsible for developing appropriate strategies, guidance, and codes of practice to facilitate effective implementation of Fire Safety Policy.
