Requirements What You Bring to the Party A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human-services major (sociology, gerontology, psych, rehab counseling, special ed—pick your flavor). At least one year of social work experience with supervisory duties and direct work with geriatric residents. A current Missouri or Illinois Social Work license (location dependent—no teleportation required). Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and enough regulatory knowledge to impress even the sternest surveyor. Leadership skills strong enough to guide a team and communication skills smooth enough to calm just about anyone. The ability to collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals without needing caffeine as a translator.
