Why does the job exist?
In 2024 the NM legislature passed the Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act directing the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance to collect pricing and rebate data across the entire supply chain and to report these findings starting January 1, 2025. The coordinator role exists to ensure robust data reporting arrives on time, ensuring reporting is accurate and actionable, and giving lawmakers the information necessary to craft policies that keep medications affordable for New Mexicans. The purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day implementation, design, improvement, data collection, stakeholder engagement, organization and analysis of data pursuant to the Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act.
How does it get done?
Program oversight - Manage the day-to-day workflow for New Mexico’s Prescription Drug Price Transparency program. Set timelines, track milestones, and flag issues early so OSI can meet every statutory requirement and deadline.
Turn raw data into usable insight - Coordinate secure intake, validation, and aggregation of price, utilization, and rebate files from manufacturers, PBM’s, insurers, and PSAO’s. Work with analysts to identify policy relevant trends.
Publish data - Lead drafting of the annual legislative report in any mid-year updates. Translate technical findings into clear compelling language and visuals that legislators, stakeholders, and the public can understand and act upon.
Be the face of the transparency programs. Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders. Answer questions, provide training, and troubleshoot the online submission portal.
Track legal developments. Track state and federal developments in drug pricing law. Recommend procedural updates and ensure the program remains fully compliant with the Prescription Drug price Transparency Act.
Program iteration - Partner with IT vendors to refine the data submission platform, implement QA checks, and roll out user-friendly enhancements that improve data quality and reduce reporting burden.
