For this position you would be working with our client from the European institutions.
JRC.D.2, in collaboration with various Commission services and stakeholders—most notably DG HERA, DG ENV, DG SANTE, and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)—is spearheading the development of the Wastewater Observatory for Public Health. This initiative focuses on establishing the technical and scientific foundations necessary for deploying wastewater surveillance as a vital tool for public health monitoring.
Below are the details of your role and requirements.

Your role:

• Definition of Data Curation Processes:Curate relevant datasets for the Encyclopaedia Cloacae and integrate AI andcomplementary tool outputs into its databaseo Validate and clean data to ensure accuracy and consistency before entry
• Preparation of Annotation and Metadata Standards:o Annotate datasets with relevant metadata to enhance usability and searchability within theEncyclopaedia Cloacaeo Develop ontologies and controlled vocabularies to standardize the annotation process.
• Development and Maintenance of Training and Documentation:
• Develop training materials and documentation for users on utilizing AI-generated resources in wastewater surveillance for public health
• Create guidelines for contributors on adding and maintaining AI-generated content
• Management of Data Analysis and Interpretation:
• Process and analyze high-throughput biological data, such as genomic or metagenomic sequences from wastewater samples
• Interpret bioinformatics findings in the context of public health and pathogen surveillance
• Coordination and Review of Collaboration with Software Developers:
• Engage with software development teams to ensure seamless data entry and integration with existing systems, such as the EU Wastewater Observatory’s databases and the DEEP
• Provide bioinformatics expertise to assist developers in creating user-friendly interfaces for data submission and retrieval
• Reporting of Administrative Communication Management:
• Handle administrative tasks such as sorting and responding to emails, managing correspondence related to the project, and coordinating communications within the consortium
• Organize and maintain digital records of project-related communications and data
• Assistance with Support for GLOWACON:
• Contribute bioinformatics support to the Global Consortium for Wastewater Surveillance for Public Health, assisting with data analysis and the dissemination of finding
• Participate in GLOWACON initiatives to develop standardized methods and best practices for wastewater-based epidemiology
• Interaction with Stakeholders:
• Collaborate with business analysts, customers, users, project leaders, and developers to ensure successful project execution and alignment with objectives
