QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• Valid nursing license in Dubai DHA.

• Home Dialysis Care:
• Administer home dialysis treatments, including hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, according to established protocols and patient care plans.
• Set up, monitor, and maintain dialysis machines in the patient’s home, ensuring that the equipment functions properly throughout the treatment.
• Assess the patient’s condition before, during, and after dialysis, monitoring vital signs, fluid status, and the overall patient’s physical state.
• Ensure appropriate dialysis access (e.g., catheter or fistula) and assist with its care and maintenance.
• Patient and Family Education:
• Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, proper care of dialysis access points, signs of complications, and post-dialysis recovery.
• Teach patients and caregivers how to perform self-care between dialysis treatments, including dietary restrictions, fluid management, and general health maintenance.
• Provide ongoing emotional and psychological support to patients and families, addressing concerns related to chronic kidney disease and home dialysis.
• Monitoring & Documentation:
• Keep detailed and accurate records of each home dialysis treatment, including the patient’s vital signs, machine settings, patient responses, and any issues encountered during the treatment.
• Document any changes in patient condition or treatment regimen and communicate updates with the home care team or medical providers.
• Monitor and report any adverse events, such as infections or complications, to the relevant healthcare providers in a timely manner.
• Infection Control & Safety:
• Adhere to strict infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene, sterile techniques, and cleaning and disinfecting dialysis equipment.
• Educate patients and caregivers on infection prevention strategies to minimize the risk of dialysis-related infections, such as catheter or fistula infections.
• Ensure patient safety during treatments by assessing home environments for potential hazards that may interfere with dialysis care.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Maintain effective communication with other healthcare professionals (physicians, nephrologists, dietitians, etc.) to coordinate care and treatment plans for home dialysis patients.
• Provide updates to the medical team on any significant changes in the patient’s condition or treatment effectiveness.
• Liaise with the home care coordinator to ensure that necessary supplies, medications, and equipment are available for each treatment session.
• Emergency Preparedness:
• Be prepared to handle medical emergencies related to dialysis at home, including troubleshooting dialysis equipment, addressing complications, and coordinating emergency medical transport if necessary.
• Provide guidance to patients and caregivers on how to manage emergency situations effectively when nursing support is unavailable.
• Professional Development:
• Stay current with developments in dialysis care and home healthcare nursing through ongoing education, certifications, and training.
• Attend workshops and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to home dialysis care.
