About the team we are recruiting to
We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.
We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.
In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people’.
What is the job role?
Are you passionate about working with people with Dementia? This could be the role for you!
We are currently seeking warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated young onset Dementia support workers to join an exciting new project that will transform our current Dementia Day care provision into a single Dementia Hub for Coventry. The ethos of the service is to enable people to live well with Dementia.
You will work 18 hours a week on a fixed-term basis, up to March 2026, within the service specifically for young-onset dementia. This is an exciting opportunity to offer a bespoke programme to people with young-onset dementia, which will enable them to develop coping strategies to live as independently as they can, with support to optimise their daily functions and cognitive skills. This could be a 6- or 12-week programme with individuals in their own homes and in the community.
As a keyworker, you will work with individuals to establish what areas of their daily living they are struggling with and develop coping techniques to manage this. This might be calendar reminders, signs, use of assistive technology or relearning how to do a task such as shopping.
You will promote independence and apply a person-centred approach in a safe, respectful, and dignified manner; giving people choice and control over the services they are using and ensuring the best possible outcomes for individuals within their own home.
In return for your commitment, Coventry City Council offers a wide range of employee benefits, specialised training and will support you to develop within your role and plan your future career.
