Description
Location: Calgary, Alberta Travel: Regular travel across Western Canada, including Manitoba At VetCare Canada, we believe great veterinary care begins with supporting the people who provide it. Across our growing network of veterinary hospitals, our focus is simple: create an environment where veterinary teams feel supported, respected, and empowered to deliver the best possible care to pets and the people who love them. Our hospitals are deeply connected to their communities and maintain their own culture and identity. At the same time, they benefit from the collaboration, shared learning, and resources that come from being part of a national network. We are looking for an experienced Regional Operations Manager to support a portfolio of 12+ veterinary hospitals across Alberta, including one in Brandon, Manitoba. This role is perfect for a curious, solutions-oriented leader who enjoys working closely with teams, developing leaders, and finding creative ways to help clinics grow and thrive. You will partner closely with Practice Managers and Medical Directors, helping teams strengthen operations, develop leadership capability, and continuously improve the care and service they provide. The Opportunity: Where Leadership Meets Impact Every clinic is at a different point in its journey. Some teams are exploring new ways to grow, others are fine-tuning systems, and many are building toward their next level of performance. For the right leader, this creates an exciting and rewarding challenge. In this role, you will work alongside teams to unlock opportunities, strengthen workflows, and help move the metrics forward. You will support clinics in building on their successes while identifying new ways to improve efficiency, service, and team engagement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, coaching leaders, and seeing the direct impact of their work across multiple practices. If you are energized by helping teams find better ways to work, supporting leaders as they grow, and celebrating progress together, you will find this role both fulfilling and fun. What You Will Do As a Regional Operations Manager, you will help create the conditions where veterinary teams can do their best work. You will support clinics by building strong relationships, developing leaders, and strengthening operational performance across the region. Operational Leadership • Provide operational leadership and support for 12+ veterinary hospitals across Western Canada • Partner with Practice Managers to strengthen clinic operations, staffing, workflow, and service delivery • Support consistency in operational standards while respecting the individuality of each hospital • Spend time in clinics building relationships and supporting teams in real time Performance and Financial Management • Monitor clinic performance using key operational and financial indicators • Partner with teams to strengthen revenue, efficiency, and overall clinic performance • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, service delivery, and operational effectiveness • Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning alongside finance and leadership Leadership Development • Coach and mentor Practice Managers and emerging clinic leaders • Support recruitment of veterinarians and key team members alongside Talent Acquisition • Foster strong engagement and a collaborative team culture • Help develop leaders who can grow within VetCare and take on future opportunities Growth and Continuous Improvement • Support clinics through growth, operational improvements, and new initiatives • Lead projects that enhance service delivery, team effectiveness, and clinic sustainability • Use thoughtful communication and win-win negotiation approaches to align teams and move initiatives forward • Support the integration of newly acquired hospitals when applicable What You Bring We are looking for a leader who believes that great operations start with great relationships. The ideal candidate is an experienced multi-site leader who enjoys working closely with teams, developing people, and continuously improving how clinics operate. • 5+ years of leadership experience in a multi-site operational environment (7+ locations preferred) • Experience overseeing multiple locations simultaneously • A strong ability to coach and develop managers and emerging leaders • A natural curiosity for problem-solving and improving operational performance • Strong financial and operational acumen • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills • Experience supporting teams through organizational or operational change • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work toward win-win solutions • Willingness to travel regularly across your region Experience in veterinary medicine and healthcare is considered an asset. Compensation and Benefits • Competitive salary up to $105,000 with performance-based bonus potential • Comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance benefits • Paid vacation and time off • Access to VetCare’s learning and development platform • 24/7 Employee Assistance Program supporting mental health and financial well-being Why Join VetCare At VetCare, we believe the best veterinary care happens when teams feel supported, connected, and inspired by their work. Our leaders play a key role in building environments where veterinary professionals can grow in their careers, collaborate with colleagues, and feel proud of the care they provide every day. As a Regional Operations Manager, you will help develop leaders, strengthen hospitals, and support veterinary teams across multiple communities. If you enjoy working with great people, solving meaningful problems, and helping teams reach their potential, we would love to hear from you.
