Description Family/Female High Barrier Dorm Lead: 2nd Chance Shelter - Albany Type: Full-Time, Swing Shift/Overnight Community Helping All Negotiate Chance Effectively (CHANCE) is a peer support center that uses non-clinical, peer-based activities that supports individuals to make the life changes necessary to recover from mental health, substance use disorder and/or houselessness. Position objective: To oversee family and female high barrier dorm operations, ensure adherence to shelter policies, and support peers in achieving wellness and recovery goals through trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care. Job description: The Dorm Lead is responsible for managing dorm activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing peer support services. This role involves intake processing, goal setting, documentation, and connecting peers to community resources while exemplifying recovery principles. Duties and responsibilities: · Comply with all health and safety standards per state and MHACBO regulations. · Conduct intakes and assign beds; manage peer exits as needed. · Set individualized goals with peers and monitor progress regularly. · Assign chores and facilitate dorm meetings to maintain structure and cleanliness. · Ensure adherence to shelter policies, harm reduction principles, and trauma-informed care standards. · Monitor dorm environment for safety, cleanliness, and guest well-being. · Collaborate with peers to identify wellness and recovery goals and develop actionable plans. · Model recovery principles to demonstrate that recovery is possible and attainable. · Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and supervision sessions. · Input and track peer intakes and services in HMIS and AWARDS; complete progress notes promptly. · Assist peers with Oregon Health Plan enrollment during intake when eligible. · Practice cultural sensitivity and competence in delivering person-centered, peer-based services. · Customize support strategies based on individual peer needs. · Connect peers to community resources and make referrals as appropriate. · Meet regularly with peers to develop and track progress toward goals. · Encourage and motivate peers to work toward self-sufficiency. · Comply with all health and safety standards per state and MHACBO regulations. · Provide crisis intervention and apply problem-solving skills effectively. · Follow mandatory reporting laws and maintain accurate documentation. · Track progress in AWARDS to ensure compliance with grant expectations. Requirements Qualifications/Requirements: · High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. · Certified as a CRM through MHACBO and Traditional Healthcare Worker (PSS) required. · Two consecutive years in recovery. · Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite). · Must be able to pass a state background check. · Comply with CHANCE, MHACBO, and state guidelines regarding recertifications. · Maintain valid Oregon Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record. · Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to multi-task. · Must follow CHANCE’s Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures. · Must maintain strict confidentiality. · Maintain personal recovery program and abstinence requirements for credentialing.
