Are you an experienced Cyber Security Engineer looking to drive critical technical uplift initiatives? Randstad is currently working with a Queensland Government Department to find a Cyber Security Engineer on an inital 9 month contract with potential of extension. Join a dynamic team to lead hands-on technical delivery, enhance logging and authentication frameworks, and strengthen cyber safety across a hybrid enterprise environment.

Client: Queensland Government Department

Location: Newstead, Brisbane with WFH flexibility

Pay Rate: $105 + Super per hour

What you will do:

• Lead the hands-on technical delivery of key cyber security projects, including MFA implementation on legacy systems and Essential 8 maturity initiatives.
• Redesign, reconfigure, and expand existing Microsoft Sentinel implementations to optimise logging and threat detection across systems and services.
• Produce high-quality technical designs, documentation, and procedures while driving ICT governance for design approval and implementation.
• Coordinate cross-functional technical resources to manage change, prioritize activities, and ensure project deliverables meet committed timeframes.
• Identify technical risks, gaps, and vulnerabilities, developing effective mitigation strategies and providing sound advice to senior management.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

• Demonstrated hands-on technical experience in implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/logging).
• Strong practical knowledge of cyber security frameworks, specifically Essential 8 Maturity Levels and ISO 27001.
• Proven background in Microsoft Technologies (M365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows 11) and hybrid Cloud/On-Prem solutions.
• Excellent critical thinking, strategic analysis, and technical document writing skills for producing system procedures and status reports.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary technical teams and stakeholders.
