HOURS: Temporary Full Time - 6 month contract, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM REPORTS TO: Intake/Triage Program Manager “Despite great challenges we believe unhealthy cycles can be broken, new opportunities created and, through healing, health restored.” Reporting to the Intake/Triage Program manager, the Substance Use Worker provides support to the community members we serve that are facing substance use problems and challenges. “We stand with our clients, side by side, patiently and for as long as they want – a constant and consistent caring force” Position Responsibilities * Manage a caseload of up to 25 clients using a human-centered, trauma-informed approach.  * Conduct follow-up outreach to client’s post-treatment to assess ongoing needs. * Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.  * Maintain accurate client records, documentation, reporting, data collection, and incident tracking through our applications, ensuring timely internal and external communication.  * Maintain knowledge of community resources and treatment options to provide referrals and coordinate client care.  * Coordinate transportation and drive clients to appointments using a personal vehicle.  * Support community members with the navigation of local and province- wide treatments related to their individual needs.  * Participate in case conferencing within your assigned interdisciplinary team.  * Facilitate groups with outside agencies and within Boyle Street teams. * Facilitate education and games in programming spaces to engage community.  * First point of contact for community seeking support.  * Advocacy to overcome accessing barriers and systematic challenges  * Incorporate motivational Interviewing and Trauma – informed approaches  * A deep understanding of substance use, homelessness and marginalized population  * Strong understanding of Indigenous culture and ceremony * All other duties as outlined by program manager. * All staff at BSCS are expected to participate in occasional outreach and emergency response efforts (e.g., winter response) to support and engage with clients. * BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings).
