Job Description Due to continued growth in our Technology / Data Centre Sector, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director - Mechanical Data Centre Design with a strong track record in project delivery. This role is central to strengthening AECOM’s position in the Hyperscale and Co-location markets and contributing to sector strategy and Thought Leadership. Working within our Data Centres Market Sector, you will act as a key ambassador for the data centre community across ANZ and within AECOM globally. With proven experience delivering data centre projects for major technology clients, you will lead mechanical engineering within multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate closely with our global Data Centre network. The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. How you’ll make a difference: Lead mechanical delivery for data centre projects, acting as a recognised technical expert and ensuring all outputs meet the needs of our diverse client base. Drive project excellence by defining objectives and deliverables, organising schedules and resources, applying strong engineering judgement, and ensuring consistent, high-quality standards across the Data Centre Mechanical sector. Provide strategic oversight for APAC technical delivery, including setting benchmarks, managing risk, mentoring and developing the team, and supporting knowledge transfer across the sector. Strengthen client partnerships by fully understanding their business, organisational structure and culture, and proactively responding to their requirements and market changes. Lead sector growth activities, including bid and proposal development, thought leadership contributions, and ensuring seamless, co-ordinated Mechanical services delivery across the region. Relevant professional qualifications, including a degree (or equivalent), Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) certification, and registration or eligibility for registration (e.g., CPEng, NER), ideally complemented by Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE or an equivalent institute.
