About the role

As our Senior Advisor - Diversity and Belonging, you’ll be instrumental in bringing our D&B agenda to life. In this role you’ll work closely with senior leaders, our People and Culture Team and our Diversity and Belonging Committee to develop and deliver on the next iteration of our diversity and belonging strategy.
In this role you will lead initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion, equity and belonging across Vocus. You will use your knowledge of D&B best practices and experience working in complex environments to help to attract and retain diverse talent; embed inclusive workplace practices and drive employee engagement with our D&B focus areas and initiatives.
You will be a passionate advocate for workplace equity and have a talent for bringing others along with you on the journey.
Reporting to our Head of ESG, this role is suited to someone with a background in diversity, equity and inclusion, who has strong communication and analytical skills, loves engaging with their peers and is passionate about making a positive social impact.
Please note: This is a part-time role, requiring 3-4 days of work per week. While we prefer candidates based in Melbourne, we are open to considering other locations for individuals with the ideal skills and experience.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Develop and Implement D&B Strategy: Consider best practices, industry trends, and Vocus’ culture to create a comprehensive diversity and belonging strategy that supports the achievement of D&B targets.
  • Collaborate with P&C Team: Work closely with Vocus’ People & Culture team to embed inclusive practices into recruitment, retention, and development processes.
  • Lead and Support D&B Committee: Head the Diversity and Belonging Committee and support its streams to drive awareness and engagement on various topics.
  • Design and Deliver Training Programs: Partner with external providers to create and deliver training programs on D&B topics such as unconscious bias, inclusive leadership, and cultural competency.
  • Analyze and Report D&B Data: Evaluate D&B survey responses and representation data to track progress towards targets, assess impact, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support implementation of Vocus’ First Nations Commitment.

What you’ll bring to this role

  • Proven Leadership in D&B Initiatives: 3-5 years of experience leading or managing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives within a complex organisation.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Intersectionality: Strong understanding of intersectionality, systemic inequities, and inclusive organisational development.
  • Expertise in Workshop and Training Design: Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating workshops, training programs, and strategic D&B initiatives.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Experience using HR data and metrics to drive strategic decisions and report to senior leadership.
