Collectively, Victoria’s Supreme, County, Magistrates’, Children’s, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group’.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdictions own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
The Judicial Commission is an independent statutory corporation established under the Judicial Commission of Victoria Act 2016 to investigate complaints about the conduct or capacity of judicial officers or non-judicial VCAT members (Officer). The Commission provides an accessible and transparent complaint process which will ensure public confidence in the Victorian courts.
This Commission is an independent body established to investigate complaints about the conduct and capacity of judicial officers and non-judicial Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) members. The Commission receives administrative support from Court Services Victoria (CSV), a large public entity.
A unique opportunity to work in the important field of judicial ethics and integrity, in a hybrid work environment, where development and well-being is a high priority. The Commission seeks to promote public confidence in the courts and VCAT and define the standards expected of judicial officers, both in and out of the court room. The Commission’s Board is chaired by the Chief Justice of Victoria.
The Complaints Support Officer provides complaint liaison and high-quality confidential administrative support for the complaint’s functions carried out by the Legal and Complaints team at the Commission. This role will work closely with the Commission’s investigating lawyers assisting with administrative duties associated with complaint investigation and support the Complaints Engagement and Systems Coordinator to administratively manage all enquiries and complaints received by the Commission, provide accurate complaint information, education and assistance to external stakeholders, facilitate referrals to other agencies where appropriate and maintain the complaints management system.
This position is fixed term until September 2026. It is available part time (2 days per week) with flexibility.
