Are you passionate about food, love working in a busy kitchen and want to grow your culinary career? Join our dynamic team at Dorsett Gold Coast as a Commis Chef!

Dorsett Gold Coast is a stylish and contemporary hotel located in the vibrant heart of the Gold Coast. With our Executive Lounge and Jin Bar offering a range of dining experiences, our kitchen team plays an important role in delivering high-quality food and memorable experiences for our guests.

As part of the globally recognised Dorsett brand, we are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our Kitchen Brigade. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills, gain experience across different areas of the kitchen and grow their career in hospitality.

About the Role:

As a Commis Chef at Dorsett Gold Coast, you’ll support the day-to-day preparation and production of food across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar. Working alongside our experienced chefs, you’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality dishes across à la carte service, functions and events.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working in a supportive and fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce food to established recipes and standards
  • Assist with food preparation across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar
  • Support senior chefs during service, functions and events
  • Ensure consistency, quality and presentation of all dishes
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
  • Correctly store, label and rotate stock to minimise spoilage
  • Assist with stock control and kitchen organisation
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen
  • Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Brigade and wider food and beverage team
  • Support menu planning, recipe development and seasonal offerings as required.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or currently working towards this qualification
  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
  • Experience working on grill and pan sections is preferred
  • Understanding of food safety, HACCP and WHS requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in food
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about cooking, eager to learn and takes pride in the food they produce. If you’re ready to build your skills and take the next step in your culinary career, we’d love to hear from you!

Why Dorsett?

  • 50% off stays across Dorsett properties globally
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Professional, friendly and supportive team
  • Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
  • Stunning location in the heart of the Gold Coast
  • Be part of an innovative global brand with a local vibe
  • Opportunity to develop your culinary skills and progress your hospitality career
